It's good to hear from you again. I have never written for publication but I have been written about several times. I don't have a record of where these publications appear. I don't pay much attention to such things. For me knife making is more about the work than recognition for the work. I grew up in a rural area and as with a lot of boys raised in the country I love fishing and hunting. I don't hunt as much as I used to but I still go fishing as often as I can. I'm lucky to live in an area where there are lots of rivers and lakes so I go fishing often.
I named the wavy blade knife The Copper Head because the damascus pattern on the blade looks like the pattern on the back of a local poisonous snake we have here named copper head. The blade is much harder to make than a standard double edged knife. The blade has to be forged to shape. The curves have to be just right or it won't look right. the blade is also harder to grind and file because of the curves. Keeping the spine in the middle is the hardest part. I hardened the blade in molten salt. The hardest part of doing this is leaving it in the right amount of time.You have to harden the edge without getting the spine to hard.
I also would like to know more about you. I'm looking forward to becoming better aquainted.

很高兴再次收到你的信。我已经很久没有给公众写过文章了，没有保留曾经的出版物，我对这些事不感兴趣 。对我来说做到远比别人的赞赏更重要。我生长在农村，很多男孩在长大，我喜欢钓鱼打猎，但现在已经不 像以前那么频繁的打猎了，但现在还尽可能的去钓鱼。我能生长在这样一个有山有水有湖的地方真是很幸运 。

我把这个波浪刃（lairson称他的kris为wavy blade）命名为“铜头”（烙铁头），因为大马士革花纹很象 我们当地一种叫做铜头的毒蛇的花纹。蛇刃比一般的双刃要难制作的多，刀刃必须锻打成型（区别于打磨成型），曲线一定要做得恰到好处，否则看起来就不协调。同样的开刃也非常困难，保持脊线出在中间是最难控制的。最后我把刀刃放在熔盐中作热处理，整个制作过程最难的部分就是严格控制热处理的时间，你必须将刀刃硬化但不能将脊线处硬化。
