Jerry Hossom :
I'm not sure there will be anymore S35VN since Crucible Steel Company has been split apart. The development was done by the research unit in Pittsburgh, while the steel was made by the mill in NY. They are now separate companies. In any case I doubt I'll be using more of it. It's a good steel, but it's not CPM-3V good. As soon as I finish a few blades I have made in S30V, I will likely only be working in CPM-3V for performance and CPM-154 for stainless.
CPM-3V will likely always be my favorite, but the choice of stainless might change depending on where my friend, Scott Devanna, who has managed the knife steel business at Crucible ends up working. |
