I received a lot of email from guys wanting to buy the Carolina Rebel bowies.
I only made two of those and that was the deal, so no more of those will be made. Ever.
However,
I just completed the grinding and sent to the chromer the first ten (#001-010) Bloody Basin Bowies.
Named for a local area just south of us notorious for its history of robberies, ambushes, duels, feuds, dry gulchings, and Apache social events perpetrated on wagons, settlers and other unfortunates, the Bloody Basin Bowie embodies the spirit of the old West as seen through Mad Dog eyes.
In short, it is lone wicked Bowie style blade.
The Bloody Basin Bowies are reminiscent of the Carolina Rebel in that they have a very similar concave clip and profile, but instead of the 10.3 X 5/16" inch blade of the Rebel they have a ten inch blade from 1/4" stock that is slightly narrower and sports a "flying" false edge, a totally new feature on a Mad Dog. Very Visible Temper Lines on all of them too.
ooooooooooh!
The "Flying False Edge" edge grind comes clear up to the peak of the curve, and tails out behind it. Very cool looking and quite a beeyotch to grind symetrically, if I do say so.
As an added treat, these will feature some hand layed camo composite for the grips. Another first on a Mad Dog.
Double oooooooooooooooh!
Tim Tang at MAXPEDITION and Shannon Lew at MD Tactical already have all ten of them reserved so if you want one, that's where you get them.
The first ten numbered pieces come with an ATAK and a Dundee sheath.
I won't be grinding any more of these until at least late November due to other scheduling. That means that there won't be any more available until early 2006.
I should have some photos available of Bloody Basin #001 in a few days, the composite is still curing up. Stay tuned.
