作者 Mr. Lars Hatlelid
关于传统toten 刀的资料,网上极少。
找到一段:
Design of the knife is typical for the Toten, a traditional district in the eastern Norwegian county Oppland. The both handle and the scabbard are made from the cow-horn ad sterling silver, which says that this one isn't a knife for the everyday's use, it belongs in a group of the so called Staskniver (Finnery Knives). The people of Norway uses to bear them during the holidays, as an integral part of their traditional folk-dresses.
The blade used in this knife is from the stainless steel, produced in Geilo (Brusletto). These knives vere produced in the six to seven various sizes, from the smallest "Damekniven", to the largest "Jaktkniven". How important for the people economy of this little district was the knife-making, saying the county clerc Arnesen. He wrote an article in the "Morgenbladet" from 7th November 1881., where he described these knives generally, and mentioned that ca. 100 families earnes their everydays bread by making a Toten-knives.
Today, there is not more than 30.000 inhabitants in this district, and not so many knife-makers among them. One of the last from the "old school" and the man who made this knife, was Mr. Lars Hatlelid (r.i.p.) from Lena, in Eastern Toten. His son is also the knife-maker, but his handle and scabbard material of the choice is the Birch-Wood burl.
So, nowadays it isn't possible to get the Toten-knife any more, that's made by using the cow-horn.
大意说:
这种刀不是一把每天使用的刀,它属于一组所谓的staskniver(芬纳里刀)。
Lars Hatlelid(Lars安息吧)已经去世了。他的儿子也是刀制造商,但他的柄和鞘材料的选择是桦木树瘤。
没有人再用牛角制造刀柄和鞘了。
